Solutions for retail shops
A POS system for a retail store has to scan fast, print labels, handle returns and keep the stock count honest. The Point of Sale app does that on any tablet or computer you pair with a till, and it keeps selling when the internet drops.
If you also sell online, the E-commerce app connects the store you already run, and Point of Sale can import its products and send stock movements back to whichever app owns the count.
What you switch on: Point of Sale.
Each job, the app that handles it, and the screens you will use, named as they appear on the menu.
Add the shop with the business type Retail, or Grocery if you sell weighed items, then add a till for each checkout and pair a device with each one.
Point of Sale: Outlets & Registers, Cashiers
Add items one at a time, import a spreadsheet, or import from your online store. A pack can have its own barcode that scans as several units at once.
Point of Sale: Items & Prices
Labels & Barcodes creates a barcode for any item that came without one and prints the labels as a PDF sheet. Shelves records which items sit on which numbered shelf.

Scan or tap, take cash, card or a mix, and print the receipt. Where you allow it, Sale Only, Pay Later records the sale now and the money later from the Owed list.
Point of Sale: The Till, Sales & Receipts
A refund is a new record with its own number. Money can go back as store credit with a code on the receipt, and gift cards are sold at the till with a code each.
Point of Sale: Customers & Credit, Corrections
Take a percentage, an amount or a fixed price off one item, a category or everything, in every shop or only the ones you pick. Manual Discounts sets what a cashier may give by hand.
Point of Sale: Discounts & Promotions
One app owns the count for each place and every screen says which. Where your online store owns it, Point of Sale sends each movement there instead of keeping its own.

Yes. Add a till for each checkout and pair a device with each one. A paired device sees only its own till and never the back office.
With the E-commerce app, yes. It connects stores such as Shopify, WooCommerce and Magento, depending on your plan, and Point of Sale imports products from it.
The till keeps selling from its own copy of items and prices and sends the waiting sales by itself when it reconnects.
Only with a second person typing their PIN at that moment, and every change is listed on the Corrections page.
