Most companies end up running a CRM, a project tool, an invoicing tool, a payroll tool and a spreadsheet holding the parts none of them cover. Each one is good. The cost is that a customer exists in four of them, the four disagree, and somebody spends a day a week keeping them in line.
This platform is 10 apps that write to the same records. Your staff list is one list. A company is one company. A document is in one library. You still switch on only what a team needs, and an app you have not enabled is not in the sidebar and is not on the bill.
A workspace is one company's space: its customers, its projects, its invoices, its team and its settings. Records never cross between workspaces, and that separation is enforced where the data is read rather than filtered in the interface.
If you run several businesses, or need a client kept entirely separate, you create a workspace for each. Billing follows the same line: each workspace holds its own plan, its own apps and its own capacity.

Sensitive fields are sealed before they are stored, so a copy of the database is not a copy of the data. Keys live outside it and are rotatable.
