ERP for small business
ERP for small business, without the big ERP project
ERP for small business means your sales, stock, people and assets all post into one set of accounting books. ExecCortex does it as a cloud platform of separate apps that feed the Accounting & Finance ledger, so you can start with one and add the rest when you need them.
What ERP for small business really means
ERP, enterprise resource planning, is one system in which every part of a business records its activity and the accounts are built from it. For a large company that has meant a long, expensive project. ERP for small business should mean the same benefit, one set of numbers, with none of the project.
ExecCortex is a cloud ERP in that sense. It runs in the browser, with nothing to install. The Accounting & Finance app keeps the double entry books, and the other apps send their postings into it: Invoicing sends sales invoices, E-commerce sends orders, Point of Sale sends a till day, Asset Management sends depreciation and HR sends payroll. You decide which account each one lands in.
The ERP modules, as apps
Finance
Accounting & Finance: ledger, receivables, payables, bank, expenses, budgets, close and group consolidation.
Sales and customers
Customer Relationship Management for leads, deals and quotes, and Invoicing for invoices and payments.
Projects
Project Management for boards, sprints, goals, capacity and bids, with Bill time into Invoicing.
People
Human Resources Management for records, hiring, leave, attendance, payroll figures and reviews.
Stock and selling
E-commerce for online orders, inventory by location and purchase orders, and Point of Sale for the counter.
Assets
Asset Management for the register, custody, maintenance, insurance and depreciation.
How the apps post into one ledger
Under App Connections in Accounting & Finance, Company Mapping says which company each store, brand or entity posts into. Until you do, a posting waits; it is never dropped into whichever company is first. Account Mapping points every slot, receivable, revenue, output tax and so on, at an account. Posting Backlog shows everything that arrived and what became of it.
No account is ever chosen for you, because a wrong mapping produces a balanced but wrong set of books. A till day posts as one journal, never one per sale, and only when its debits and credits agree exactly. A posting already in the ledger is corrected with a reversal and a replacement, and both stay on record.
One workspace can run several companies with their own currencies and calendars, and Group Finance handles intercompany trading and consolidation.
Rolling out ERP for small business in ExecCortex
One app at a time. Every app also works on its own.
1.Start with the books
Switch on Accounting & Finance, set up your company, fiscal year, chart of accounts and first period.
2.Add the app that hurts most
Usually Invoicing or the CRM. Link its customers to the shared company records.
3.Map the postings
In Company Mapping and Account Mapping, decide where each app’s postings land.
4.Watch the backlog
Posting Backlog shows what arrived. Fix a mapping, then Retry the row.
5.Add the next app
Point of Sale, E-commerce, HR or Assets, when the business needs it.
Every screen is explained in detail in the Accounting & Finance guide, Connecting your other Apps and the Platform overview.
What it does not do
- There is no manufacturing or production planning app.
- There is no separate warehouse app. Stock lives in the E-commerce and Point of Sale apps, and one app owns the stock figure for each place.
- It is cloud only. There is no version to install on your own server.
What it costs
Every workspace starts on the free plan, with no card required. Each app is then priced per workspace and switched on by itself, and capacity packs raise one limit at a time without moving you to a bigger plan. Prices below are read live from the platform.

ERP for small business: common questions
What is ERP for small business?
It is one system where sales, stock, people and assets all record into the same accounting books, sized and priced for a small company.
Is this a cloud ERP?
Yes. It runs in the browser with nothing to install, and your data is kept per workspace.
Do I have to switch on every app?
No. Start with one, usually the books or invoicing, and add the next when you need it. Each app is priced per workspace.
Will sales post into my accounts automatically?
Yes, once you have mapped them. Until a company and account mapping exist, a posting waits on the Posting Backlog rather than landing in the wrong place.
Can it handle more than one company?
Yes. Each company keeps its own books, currency and calendar, and Group Finance consolidates them.
