This page describes how the platform works today, and we keep it current as the product changes. It is not legal advice.
Why this policy is strict
Everyone who sends through this platform shares its reputation. One workspace mailing a bought list damages delivery for every other workspace, and reputation is far easier to lose than to rebuild. That is the reason for the rules below, rather than squeamishness about marketing.
Consent
Every address you mail must have agreed to hear from you, and you must be able to show when and how they agreed. A list you bought, scraped, rented or inherited from an acquisition does not meet that test.
Consent is also specific. Somebody who gave you their address to receive an invoice has not agreed to receive a campaign.
Every message
Three things are required on anything the platform sends for you.
- A real sender identity that matches the workspace sending it. No misleading from-names, no misleading subject lines.
- A working unsubscribe link that takes effect immediately, not at the end of a cycle.
- A postal address for the business behind the message.
What we monitor, and what happens
Complaint and bounce rates are monitored per workspace. A workspace above the threshold has sending paused rather than throttled quietly, because a paused send is one you can see and fix, whereas silent throttling produces a campaign that appears to have worked and did not.
A suppression list is kept per workspace. Once somebody unsubscribes or complains, the platform will not send to them again, and that cannot be undone by re-importing them.
Transactional mail
Invoices, payslips, notifications and password resets are transactional: they go to somebody because of a relationship they are already in, and they are not subject to the consent rule above.
The line matters. Adding a promotion to an invoice makes it a marketing message, and it then needs consent like any other.
